While I adore photographing wedding days for the incredible couples that hire me, they are inevitably fast paced and it can be difficult to try new things. My friend Lauren (Lauren McDonald Film + Photo) and I have been talking about putting together another styled shoot for what seems like years and finally decided to throw one together in just 2 weeks time!
Styled shoots are an amazing opportunity to be creative in a way that we might not usually be able to and not have the pressure of a real wedding day. We can try new ideas, show exciting designs, and just let our creative juices flow!
Lauren and I knew we wanted to do something different and fresh, so we rounded up a few of our favorite local wedding vendors and friends and put together this shoot with an intimate, backyard wedding vibe. Lauren and I had the perfect, laid back couple to be our models. Our past bride & groom, Anna & Nathan Wedel, who just happened to have also recently celebrated their one year anniversary! What a better way to celebrate?!
Kari from Petals & Perks really took our initial vision and ran with it. She is so incredibly talented at what she does. I’m always blown away with the designs she comes up with, brides you NEED to hire her for your florals!
The fabulous ladies at Chrysalis Bridal Salon provided the gorgeous dress for Anna to wear. Talk about dreamy!
My good friend, Kendra at Pat’s Jewelry brought some beautiful jewelry pieces for Anna to wear as well including the necklace, earrings and a set of rings. Who doesn’t love trying on new jewelry?!
When we were thinking about where to do the shoot the first place that came to mind was my in-laws pond. My family spends countless hours there and it’s such a beautiful spot for an intimate wedding! (Maybe I need to do a vow renewal out there some day!) I also need to give my husband, Tony a shout out for all the prep work he did to make everything looking great in time for the styled shoot. I couldn’t have done it without him!
I’m thrilled with how everything came together and already thinking about planning another with these talented ladies! Here’s just a few of my favorite images from the shoot.
That bouquet though! ALL the heart eyes!
Not only did Kari do an amazing job with the decor but she thought of ALL the details like these gorgeous goblets and adorable strawberry sodas! She’s the best!
How stunning are these jewelry pieces Anna wore from Pat’s Jewelry?!
Check out the amazing film Lauren created from the shoot! She is so talented! So fun to see things through her vision too!
